The legalization of medical cannabis introduces a unique challenge for case managers and may leave you wondering if there is a conflict between the laws, rules, ethical codes and standards of practice. Explore topics like legal duties, ethical conflicts, the professional case manager's assessment, documentation, referral and other aspects for medical use by clients. The risks and current state of the law regarding case manager employment will also be addressed.

Learning Outcomes

  • The Professional Case Manager will acquire a working knowledge of the conflicts of law related to professional licensing in traditional and Nurse Compact Jurisdictions consistent with CCMC Code §12

  • The Case Manager will refine assessment and critical thinking skills as it relates to ethical obligations identified in CCMC Code § 14 and 24 when working with clients using medical, recreational and other substances
