Cultivating Strong and Adaptable Self-Care

Timeslot: Tuesday, October 10, 2023 - 11:25 AM to 12:25 PM
Session Type: Concurrent Session

About

It is time to draw attention to self-care in a new way. What we've been doing habitually for years doesn't serve us anymore - because it shouldn't. Even the good habits may need adjusting depending on where we work, what we do, who we have living with us, our friends, our preferences, etc. We need a dynamic approach that does not pressure us to do it perfectly - we need reassurance that self-care is as unique as each one of us. We are our own authorities on what works and what doesn't. Let’s take advantage of this, and interact with one another to have a dialogue, as we move forward to a refreshed view of nourishing ourselves so we can serve in all our roles effectively.

Learning Outcomes

  • Identify 3-5 practical self-care strategies to implement regularly

  • Create 3-5 self-care adaptations when the planned activities aren’t possible

  • Practice compassion and warmth toward oneself regardless of how “well” you are doing self-care, accepting that life ebbs and flows
