Motivational interviewing is a communication technique that can be used by case managers to facilitate engagement and promote patient-centered care to support patients in their journey towards self-efficacy and self-care. The techniques and tools presented in this session will provide a framework for action plan development, enhancement of the patient experience with the health care team, and increased patient engagement in their health.
The learner will be able to apply motivational interviewing frameworks and concepts to enhance patient engagement.
The learner will be able to detail the relationship between motivation and health behavior changes.
The learner will be able to implement a variety of motivational interviewing techniques and skills to engage patients.
