Carlos Marquez de la Plata, Ph.D.
Clinical Neuropsychologist / Director of Rehabilitation Research
Dr. Marquez de la Plata is the Director of Rehabilitation Research at Pate Rehabilitation in Dallas, Texas. He obtained his doctorate degree in clinical psychology from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in 2005, where he currently holds a faculty appointment within the Department of Psychology. He has secured NIH funding to examine neuroimaging biomarkers of outcome after brain injury and currently utilizes imaging techniques to examine neural correlates of neurorehabilitation after TBI and stroke. Dr. Marquez is also a practicing neuropsychologist at Pate and leads interdisciplinary teams treating acquired brain injuries in a post-acute setting. Dr. Marquez’s clinical efforts are guided by an interest in developing evidence-based rehabilitation treatment protocols, including protocols for increasing family involvement in goal setting within a person-centered approach to community reintegration. Additionally, Dr. Marquez currently directs the Neuropsychology Postdoctoral Residency program at Pate Rehabilitation and is an active member in several professional societies including the International Networking Group of the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine.
