Dorothy Sanders, BSN, RN, CCM, currently serves as a National Consultant for Care Coordination & Integrated Case Management (CC&ICM) practice within VA’s Central Office of Nursing Service. Ms. Sanders is a Certified Case Manager and utilizes her knowledge, experience, and skills to guide and coach VA facilities across the nation in implementing VA’s CC&ICM framework to strengthen systems and clinical integration throughout the enterprise. She is known for her innovative and creative thinking in solving complex systems barriers. She possesses a deep knowledge in data analytics and organizational performance to provide her with the innate ability to identify systematic opportunities to strengthen the experience of the Veteran, employee, and organization. Ms. Sanders has served in the National Consultant role either in an acting capacity or as a full-time position since Spring 2018. Prior to this role, Ms. Sanders served a Nurse Manager for Home Telehealth & Integrated Case Management at the Central Texas Veterans Healthcare System. She spent nearly 17 years within this healthcare system in various leadership roles to include but not limited to Acting Associate Chief Nurse, Nurse Manager, Executive Assistant to the Director, Performance Measures Coordinator, Clinical Educator and various care coordinator or case manager roles. In her spare time, she spends her free time with her family to include her loving husband of over 16 years and her two fun-loving sons. She and her family are avid Star Wars nerds and are known to have an occasional family-friendly lightsaber battle from time to time.
