About

Dr. Franklin began his career in mental health by receiving his master’s degree from University of Texas at San Antonio in Educational Psychology with an emphasis in Counseling followed by a doctorate degree (PhD) in Counseling from St. Mary’s University. He has been a licensed professional counselor since 2001. He holds a variety of professional certifications and licensures: Licensed Professional Counselor – Supervisor, Approved Clinical Supervisor, Nationally Certified Counselor, Nationally Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor, Certified Case Manager, Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, and Certified Employee Assistance Professional.

He has had a variety of experiences with families, couples, and individual work. His professional experiences include working with employee assistance programs, inpatient mental health, university counseling center, intensive outpatient programming, and supporting our Military and Government. His specialties include clinical supervision, anxiety disorders, phase of life issues, couples therapy, and LGBT+ issues.

Dr. Franklin's philosophy on mental health and support is one of empowering a movement of understanding and change in order to have a meaningful impact on the quality of their lives. He identifies his role as a therapist as one who collaborates, ensures feeling heard, respected, and validated, in turn, serving as a catalyst for goal setting, decision-making, and engaged strategies about one’s wellness.
