Sue Jensen, RN, Ph.D., CCM, MSCC

About

Susan L. Jensen, PhD, RN, CCM, MSCC, is an RN board-certified case manager who specializes in workers’ compensation and disease management. She has more than 20 years in case management and more than 25 in nursing. Jensen’s professional life represents the intersection of two worlds. Part of her formal responsibilities lie in the world of academia. As associate professor at Kirkhof College of Nursing - Grand Valley State University (GVSU) in Grand Rapids, Mich., where she teaches nursing, health policy and case management to undergraduate and graduate students. As a part owner in a case management company covering four states, she’s deeply involved in the business of case management.

Jensen holds a Ph.D. in medical sociology from Western Michigan University and a master’s degree in nursing from Michigan State University. Additionally, she is certified as a Medicare Set Aside allocator (MSCC).

In 2009-2010, she served on the Commission’s Finance and Audit Committee, the Eligibility and Compliance Committee and on the Strategic Planning Task Force for Research. In 2010-2011, she served on the Governance and Nominations Committee. Sue has been an active participant on Committees and supports the Commission’s strategic plan. She is a strong advocate for professionals practicing in the field of case management to become certified. She served as both Chair Elect for CCMC in 2012-2013, and then Chair in 2013-2014.  

Her papers have been published in numerous professional journals, in addition to presenting at several national forums. She received a faculty grant and traveled to Ghana in March 2010 to establish learning sites for Grand Valley State University nursing students, on their study abroad program. In 2013, she brought 13 GVSU nursing students to Ghana to experience providing care in a third world country.
