Solutions for Workforce Mental Health Risks
Concurrent Session
Time: 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM
Description
Post-COVID, another epidemic came to light – the stress and trauma that affects employees, and the risk these situations create for the organizations that employ them. First responders, health care employees, and others dealing with customers are among the groups most likely to experience violence, trauma, and injury in the course of their jobs. However, any worker can experience trauma on the job, from natural disasters, shootings, riots, violent co-workers, and more. Missouri became the first state to make trauma for first responders a covered condition for workers’ compensation; others are likely to follow. This is a growing problem that faces every organization. This session identifies what employers are doing to avoid and manage this risk, drawing from the experience of several successful programs and practices that can serve as resources.
