Michael B. Garrett, MS, CCM has more than 40 years of experience in utilization, case, care, and population health management. This has included working with public sector plans, including Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare, and other government employee benefit programs. He has also worked with a range of private benefit programs, including workers’ compensation, health plans, disability plans, and employee assistance programs. For the last ten years, he has focused on improving health equity for historically underserved communities, including people of color, LGBTQIA+, people with disabilities, and other communities. This includes assessing how organizations can better support diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) with a special focus on health and benefits. In the past, he has served on the Commission for Case Manager Certification, URAC clinical accreditation committee, and City of Seattle LGBTQ+ Commission. He currently serves on the editorial board of Professional Case Management, the URAC health equity council, the Bree Collaborative Social Need and Health Equity Steering Committee, and is the chair of the Case Management Society of America’s DEIB committee. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and religious studies, and a Master of Science in clinical psychology. He is board certified in case management and vocational evaluation.
