Protecting Your Well-Being: Trauma-Informed Self-Care for Frontline Workers

Date: Wednesday, October 15, 2025
Time: 1:15 PM to 2:15 PM
Track: Concurrent Sessions

Description

In the social care sector, many case managers and direct service providers often share lived experiences with the individuals they serve. As the value of peer specialists and lived experience is increasingly recognized alongside professional and educational qualifications, more direct practitioners are working in environments where they too have faced trauma. This reality poses unique challenges for maintaining well-being, particularly when self-care practices are neglected. The social care field is especially susceptible to burnout, and without intentional self-care, staff are at risk of moral injury, a condition where the emotional toll of the work interferes with personal values and professional integrity. This session aims to explore trauma-informed self-care techniques tailored to case managers and other frontline workers, equipping them with practical strategies to foster resilience, manage personal triggers, and prevent burnout in a field where trauma exposure is prevalent.
